About Me

February 27, 2018

It seems like it was just a few short years ago that I decided to be a stay at home mom. And as every mom blogger warns, it goes by so fast. When I made my decision to stay home, my babies were babies and now my babies have grown up. My girls are off to school all day, and I find myself thinking about all possibilities in the next stage of my life. Not to sound too cliche, but I find myself wondering what the next chapter holds.

I am a stay at home mom and my husband is in the Army. He has given me a luxury that not many people can afford. I have the time and latitude to find my passion. I have the opportunity to do what makes me happy, not what pays the bills. What do I find so interesting that I can’t stop thinking, researching, and talking about?

My answer in a sense is: words

Words are my passion. I remember when I was a little girl, my parents had a dictionary in our small home library. I spent hours pouring over the words that I found so interesting.. So umm, yes, I read the dictionary.

“Words are, in my humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic, capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it.”

Following My Passion To Freelance Writing

My initial endeavor into writing started with an attempt at fashion blogging. I figured a fashion blog would combine two things I loved: fashion, of course, and writing. After some time I realized that while I love fashion, I didn’t want to take a million selfies every month and don’t get me started on Instagram. It just wasn’t my thing. However, my first freelance piece was a success. After it was published on a well known ‘big blog’, it got picked up for a reprint on abcnews. How serendipitous! With that initial success, it was quite clear that writing is what I want to do.

After The Byline

After the byline is my life as a writer…documented. It is everything I have learned (and continue to learn) about writing a book, freelance writing, and blogging. The good, the bad and the ugly. Surely there are others who have the same questions I do. Sharing information is a great way to process what I have learned and maybe I can help others along the way.

There is so much to know about writing and writing for a living. What’s the difference between a writer and an author? How do I land a freelance writing job? Is self-publishing really that easy? How exactly does one market a book?

After the byline will attempt to answer these questions and many, many more.

I’m glad you’re here! So sit back, relax, and let’s do this!

I’ll wait while you grab your coffee…
